なに(Nani)? What is that mean in Japanese [Day 34]

What does “なに” mean? If you watch anime, I guess you will know the meaning :

“なに” (nani) means “what” in Japanese. It’s a basic question word used to ask about things or actions.

This word so good to use in many case :

  1. To ask about objects or actions:
    • これはなに
      Kore wa nani?What is this?
    • あなたはなにを食べますか?
      Anata wa nani o tabemasu ka?What are you eating?
  2. When it changes to “なん” (nan) it become more powerful meaning :
    • なんですか?
      Nan desu ka?What is it?
    • なんじですか?(何時)
      Nan ji desu ka?What time is it?
    • なんにんですか?(何人)
      Nan nin desu ka?How many people?
