I recently switched from Duolingo to a new app called Miraa. Before I left Duolingo, I had a 231-days streak and studied every day for about 15 to 30 minutes.

While it’s helpful for learning grammar, it’s not ideal for practicing real conversations — which is my top priority.
After spending 231 days with the app, I felt like my progress was too slow, and the lessons didn’t connect well to the topics I use in daily life. The streak became meaningless when I realized I wasn’t improving the way I wanted to. I can’t take simple thing in the event and that is main reason make me change and rethink the process again and again.
That said, Duolingo still has some good points:
- Useful for basic vocabulary and word meanings
- Great for learning Hiragana
- Helpful for learning Katakana
Why I’m move to Miraa App
I want to take more than get the certificate, my purpose of learning is listen first, talk second and writing, understanding will come after. Miraa really is good app to start with my goal.

Right now, I’m shifting my focus to understanding and real communication.
One thing I’ve learned about language is this: the best way to learn is like a child.
- First, listen a lot
- Then, start speaking a little
- Try to repeat simple conversations
- Keep going, and slowly remember more each day
- Don’t be afraid to make mistakes — just fix them as you go, including grammar
This approach helps me connect with the language in a more natural and meaningful way.
